I have been working at Gentiva full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

good co-workers at a local level

Cons

Admissions are all that corp cares about. Sure you have to make money to stay in business but employees are treated like numbers also. Our site has had almost 30 turnovers in the last year and a half. Before Gentiva you had to wait years for someone to leave befor you could get a job. Management cares nothing for the patient only more admissions even if they dont meet criteria.

Advice to Management

Please sell us to a company that cares

    Pros

    Large national organization in a competitive market with deeper pockets than "mom & pop's" have access to.

    Cons

    Large corporation that makes local decision-making impossible. Too much middle-management!
    Acquisition of Odyssey & VistaCare Hospice poorly executed - one name/brand would have been much more effective and seamless...Gentiva Home Health & Hospice.

    Advice to Management

    Get rid of all the new layers of middle management and pay your employees better. Corporate templates just don't work in smaller markets. Give your sites more autonomy in their decision making to allow for more success in each market. Find ways to better appreciate and reward your biggest asset - your dedicated employees!
