I have been working at Gentiva full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Great bunch of coworkers who are like family, lots of pto time and other benefits.

Cons

Lacks communication between mgt and field staff.

Advice to Management

Make sure all employees are on the same page. Give middle mgt more training on how to effectively handle their employees.

    I worked at Gentiva full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    central location in coverage area

    Cons

    extremely bad payroll processing which constantly shorted you hours or even an entire paycheck with no recourse resulting in delayed pay not processed until next pay period.Horrible upper management/director who was unable to address specific issues regarding inability to provide a consistent caseload for a full time employee resulting in loss of wages with no available options. Poorly managed/bad marketing to promote a specific skilled service resulting in low to non patient referrals.

    Advice to Management

    Be accountable for poor promotion of needed skilled services which result in no patient referrals which result in no work for full time employees which is a disgrace. upper management/directors need to be trained in good leadership which would require them to problem solve appropriately and provide better options/solutions for employees who you hired on the notion of providing a consistent and productive work environment.

    I have been working at Gentiva full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Generous PTO, not stuck in office all day, great patients, good commute, nice office, give back to community

    Cons

    No computers, easily a 50+ hr a week job for FT Rns if youre doing your job well and managing your time well, too many meetings, no raise in 3 yrs, annual reviews for 2012 and 2013 not yet completed by my managers, excessive amounts of paperwork, productivity keeps being increased without fair compensation, poor retention of nurses, have to work weekends and take on call ( making for a 12 days work week before you get a break) two weeks out of every quarter without being able to have an additional 2 days off during week.

    Advice to Management

    Lower productivity requirements back to 25-30. HHC pts are sicker than ever and require more time than ever.
    Fairly compensate employees
    Do away with Pay per Visit Pay scale and reinstate salaries
    Do away with on call for FT staff/ hire someone to do
    Do away with weekends for FT Rns and hire someone for weekends
    Screen new pts better for appropriate admission to service. Too many bad referrals coming in
