No opinion of CEO

I have been working at George Mason University part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

As a college student wishing to work on campus, this was a good opportunity. Coworkers were pleasant and scheduling was generally a smooth process. Good to work on campus and no need to commute or bring a car.

Cons

not always easy to get enough hours to meet your needs, and the pay is good because there is no taxes for students, but could be a little bit better.

Advice to Management

none

I have been working at George Mason University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Strong support for telecommuting. Great medical benefits. Relaxed dress code. Defined benefit plan for current employees.

    Cons

Faculty simply do not know how to supervise or manage highly skilled professionals. They are treated as nothing more than support staff. There is no 360-degree review so there is no way that faculty are held accountable for poor management skills.

    Advice to Management

Any faculty member who supervises classified professional staff should be required to receive management training on a recurring basis.
