I worked at Georgia Legislative Branch full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Having some type of effect on policy that affects so many people is a truly rewarding experience. Additionally you get to enjoy working with a number of people who enjoy making a difference.

    Cons

There is a lot of work for four months of the year, and then it is dead. Also, the work that you do in the session is not necessarily going to have any end effect, but that is to be understood when you take a job in research.

  2. "Great overall experience"

    Pros

Great experience. You get to meet so many great people. You get placed in an office and you instantly become a member of that office. This internship can lead to full-time opportunities if you network. Lots of free food. You actually learn the legislative process.

    Cons

Internship is only for the legislative session, about 3 months long. You have to pay for parking. You might get a not so great placement. Can consume your life, but it's only for 3 months.
