I have been working at Gersh Agency full-time for more than a year
Pros
Same pros as any agency - you will make friends and connections with people your own age who are starting off in the industry.
Some of the agents are genuinely good people who just enjoy the work.
Access to material (scripts, information) before other areas in Hollywood.
Cons
Lack of diversity - there are a handful of non-white agents at the company, and those in power do not seem to see this as an issue.
The pay is extremely low, the 401k does not match your contribution.
HR is a bureaucratic nightmare that is run by effectively one person who is cruel and lacks concern for employees (i.e. an assistant being refused time off to attend her mother's funeral).
Harassment from... agents and poor interpersonal relationships between assistants and their agents are commonplace - your experience is only as good as your agent is kind.
You come across far fewer opportunities here than you would at a bigger agency - your agency experience is really the only asset for future growth that you gain here, and your next job will likely not come from the work the agency does or the clients that it represents.

Advice to Management
Prioritize diversifying your staff. Pay assistants a competitive hourly rate. Do not micro-manage overtime. Incentivize growth within the company rather than playing the role of gatekeeper.
