I have been working at Gilead Sciences full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Well positioned company with successful drugs brining in hug profits. Expansions in to HCV and other areas seem well underway. Employee compensation and benefits are top-notch.

    Cons

Company is running way too lean and workload seems unevenly distributed and can be very high for a lot of individuals. A lot of mid to senior managers practice fear-based and non-forgiving types of cultures. They tend to always find someone else to blame (including their own employees!) and only care about their own growth (aka "manage up").

    Advice to Management

Middle managers need to learn to take proper responsibilities and act like people managers. Sabotaging your own employees to get ahead or to rid of pressures is NOT sustainable. It is also irresponsible for the company. This type of practices, if continued can lead to more people start to leave when the market picks up. Because it may not be worth it for a lot of people to put through high workload and not being treated fairly.
