    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Branching into a number of different areas of research at the moment with some opportunities being created here. Pay and benefits comparable to others within the sector.
The pipeline and product replacement is probably the best in the industry right now and GSK will probably be the largest pharma within a few years. Expansion across the globe means opportunity overseas could be available.

    Cons

The company continually changes its targets (which is in itself good) but never allows enough time for them to be met.
Shareholders mean everything to GSK now and staff are just an unavoidable expense.
If you want to work for GSK, ensure as good a pay deal and as high a grade as humanely possible because your chances of progress within this organisation are very limited. They would rather buy in skills than develp staff. There is a huge amount of 'restructuring' at this company which will likely continue for the foreseeable future, making staff morale quite low.

    Advice to Management

Learn to value your staff again. The Glaxo and Wellcome heritage companies valued their staff and were two of themost respected and successfull companies in the world.
Focus more on getting 'new' drugs and vaccines out there, rather than the recent 'copy cat' stuff of the last few years. From an ethical point of view, most of your scientists would like to make drugs which cover previously unmet needs.

    Doesn't Recommend
    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Good place to apply science and engineering and a leader in the field. Attractive product pipeline when compared to the rest of the industry and the presence of a new CEO who will make change happen

    Cons

Politics, Beurocracy. Takes too long to do anything and only those that brownose seem to suceed. Management is very retracted from the issues that cause us problems in production so there proposed solutions for better operational efficiency is somewhat blurred. R&D is not a productive environment compared to other companies that seem to do development far better than GSK

    Advice to Management

Get on the ground so what things are really like
