Pros

CitizenLab has been a huge force for good in my life since I joined. The company hires extremely well - some of the most inspiring people I know are my coworkers. Leadership does an excellent job bringing on people who are mission-driven, skilled, and globally-minded. A big green flag for me is that I implicitly trust my team and my coworkers to do a good job, and be driven by the right motivations. The product is ever-evolving, and we are one of the few community engagement software companies with a product roadmap that is transparent. Product does a great job of involving the employees in designing the product roadmap, and actively seeks out input on where the product should go. Clients are well-chosen and easy to work with. As a GovSuccess Manager, I trust the sales team to find great fits for the company, which makes my life easier. As a global company, CitizenLab is not US-centric, which I appreciate. The global perspectives that shape the product and our service offerings are a differentiating factor as a company, and makes working here very interesting.

Cons

Operationally, things do move a bit slow. Working across teams and timezones can cause occasional delays. There are also challenges that come with working with local governments - like pace - that are outside of CitizenLab's control, but do impact my work.

Pros

Great team chemistry, everyone really cares about the work and is committed to building great products for governments around the world. Get to work on really interesting and challenging problems around public participation and how it ties to decision-making in government

Cons

Like any start/scale-up there are some growing pains, but there's no ego on the leadership and they adapt their approach and style as needed when new challenges present themselves
