Pros

A wide variety of personalities and a good group to work with. Decent transparency from upper management on the direction of the company.

Start up atmosphere where you work/ideas can make an noticeable impact.

Cons

Work is often repetitive and in a limited ecosystem. Business units work in silos even though the company is small. Favorites are often recognized most for their work and gain more advancement. Not much room for growth or professional development outside software developers.

Advice to Management

Try to keep around the veteran employees by incentives and challenges. Technical folks can pick up and move at will and find better pay and appreciation. When employees are touted to be the number one asset then funds should be allocated accordingly.

    Pros

    Learn a lot if you are a junior/mid developer. Great people. Get to wear all the hats and learn everything from database, build & deploy, production support, etc.

    Cons

    PMO group drags down employee moral. Business and Technology teams do not have a good relationship. Sales group are incompetent and have poor leadership. Health Insurance Industry is too boring and working with Insurance Companies is a nightmare. No innovation and time and money wouldn't be spent on it any way.

    Advice to Management

    Let developers do what they are good at. Let the technology team innovate and implement their ideas. Get rid of the PMO group and just have a few good project managers.

    -Flexible and fun work environment in a great location
    -Ability to work with intelligent and enthusiastic people
    -Growing company with a ton of opportunity
    -Still a small company so you can see your individual impact on the business in a short amount of time

    Cons

    -Slightly unstructured, but if you like entrepreneurial environments, this is a great place to work because it still has the vibe of a start up, but offers stability
    -If you are looking for something more corporate, Norvax is not for you

    Advice to Management

    With the ever-changing landscape of the health insurance industry, leadership should keep employees up to date on how the company will continue to grow and achieve innovation. It is encouraging to work for a company that is ahead of the game so keep the employees informed and they will help support the company's mission, vision and growth.
