I worked at Good Technology full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Generally, employees treat each other well

Cons

Lack of communication within and between departments. More heavily siloed than any other place I've worked

Some execs are wholly unqualified to do their jobs

The company cares much more about managers than worker bees. "Managing up" at the expense of reports is not spotted or questioned. Employee feedback is ignored

Over two years, the poorly rated bread-and-butter product was neglected except for facelifts, while other questionably useful apps were rushed out before they were ready

    Pros

The Good product allows you to be different in the marketplace. Great atmosphere, good lunch room and snacks. Real opportunity to have multiple products used securely going forward.

    Cons

2013 Sales strategy did not allow success for sales team, which has caused some turnover. Total change to Executive team with VP's who don't know the products. Changing the sales strategy mid-year made it hard for the sales teams to generate a proper pipeline.

    Advice to Management

Don't be so afraid to compete within the marketplace, and make more features available so more companies would be interested.

"niche product + poor execution + UE winning over Security = not a good place to be"

I worked at Good Technology full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - flagship product is robust and reliable
    - embedding Good's security framework into custom apps is promising

    Cons

    - For context, I think many would agree that adding Security to anything inherently means adding complexity and/or preventing a "native" experience. Good is known for it's strong security; however, a surprisingly low percentage of F1000 truly care about mobile related data-loss. This is proven by MDM vendors winning market-share by touting User Experience.

    - Territory/Quota assignments are not well thought out.

    - Too many Execs do not work from HQ and seem out of touch with the market realities.

    Advice to Management

    - invest more into productivity apps.
    - invest in MDM
    - segment Sales by "hunter" and "farmer" roles in effort to create more equitable quota assignments. (hard to believe Sales Mgt. treats every dollar the same....organic license growth should not be recognized the same as replacing a competitor.)
    - hire a VP of Sales in Sunnyvale who has relevant security experience.
