I have been working at Goodwill part-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Excellent benefits after six months but you have to fight for them and you might get your hours cut back to prevent you from your eligibility.

Cons

Management's main concern is profit and every employee knows it. Lots of politics and backbiting and closed-door stuff. Sadly there is a snitch system and if you say something negative about a supervisor or manager they will get told. If you work there adjust to low pay, keep your mouth shut, and keep your eyes open for other opportunities.

Advice to Management

Supervise your supervisors and listen when a lot of employees make the same complaints about the same supervisors. Smoke usually means fire.

I have been working at Goodwill full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent pay for management. Feeling of helping others. Great benefits package.

    Cons

Unpaid overtime every week. Horrible pay for associates. It's hard to get people to work as hard as we expect them to for part time minimum wage. Bad communication between different departments in the company.

    Advice to Management

Communication/organization between different departments needs work. Appropriate compensation for amount of work done.

I have been working at Goodwill full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Their mission of putting people to work. The customers and assisting people to find what they need. Noble mission and do a lot of good for the community.

    Cons

Do not value employees. Inability to move up in most cases. Education is useless. Treatment of average employees by store managers can be difficult and unsatisfactory. Although not advertised, the bottom line is more important than employees. Health benefits are discount insurance only, no sick leave offered but do earn personal time off. Beginning salary is a little better than minimum wage with quarter per hour raises annually depending upon performance. Job Job is not

    Advice to Management

Value your employees more. Offer career paths to move up in the organization based on such factors as performance, interests, and education. Offer full medical and not discount insurance. When making budget, then employees should also receive bonuses and not just managers. Better treatment is needed.
