I have been working at Goodwill part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

I love my co-workers and management, the store I'm working at is very flexible about days off, and I feel accepted for my tattoos and pierced ears.

Cons

Sometimes I'm scheduled for some weird hours (half-day, 5 hours in the middle of the day, and such). I've also encountered the typical gruff and haggling customers from time to time.

Advice to Management

Please pay your employees above their regular rate if you're going to have them on the clock for a store renovation that involves ripping up tile, re-painting, and such. Other than that, I'm very satisfied with my job and intend on sticking around.

I have been working at Goodwill part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working with participants and the diverse cultures among staff members provides a very rewarding and fulfilling work experience. Since items are donated, no two products are the same and no two work days are really the same.

    Cons

Corporate and management are constantly pushing for a greater number of items to be stocked and sold, regardless of how understaffed the store may be.
Management makes employees feel disposable due to the pressure placed on them by corporate.

    Advice to Management

Trust that your employees are smart enough to do things on their own without feeling as though they are being baby-sat through their shifts.
