I worked at Goodwill part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Great place to gain teamwork experience and to learn accountability.Goodwill is a fair employer, giving credit where credit is due.

Cons

At times you feel like you are standing on thin ice. There are secret shoppers who come though and grade the employees, leaving with management their full report.

Advice to Management

Reward employees for exemplary customer service. Positive reinforcement for going above and beyond expectations is a great way to motivate other employees to repeat the behavior.

I have been working at Goodwill part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Diverse group of people to work with, experience in retail, not too challenging of work, easy pay.

    Cons

VERY physically demanding and very repetitive if you're not a door attendant. If you are a door attendant prepare to do much more work than anyone else, to the point it becomes near impossible to get it all done in the time provided.
If you close as a door attendant, you will have to take out the trash, clean the ENTIRE store, mop, clean the bathrooms, pick up clothes, and vacuum, all while keeping watch on the door. I've worked in multiple stores and they're all the same, it's always difficult to get everything done in the time provided, so you have to start early or try to get someone to help you. Front end people do nothing but close their registers during close.

    Advice to Management

Divide up the duties more. Some employees have to do much much more work than the others, and the time frame to get it all done becomes impossible and causes corners to be cut.
