Pros

Managers that are invested in your growth/professional development.

Cons

Sometimes it can be hard to get things done due to too many cooks in the kitchen

Advice to Management

Keep your reports in the loop on decisions as much as you can

I worked at Google as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Great company culture. Valued even as an intern.
    - Fun challenging projects and you learn a ton. You will always be learning something in this company.
    - Very smart and friendly environment.
    - As an intern, career opportunities in the sense of converting to full time is a much smoother process than applying for full time without coming from an internship. Still the process is selective but considerably nicer.

    Cons

    - Experience is dependent on teams. I unfortunately had a team with less energy and drive.
    - Depending on the breadth of the project and whether you need to work with remote teams, it can really feel like a clanky large company.

    Advice to Management

Continue to maintain the company culture and make management decisions as transparent as possible.

    Pros

Insanely smart people everywhere (not just eng/prod). Looking for game changing ways to approach every problem. The food and shuttles are great benefits. You can end up working a lot but it's generally because you want to, not because you have to.

    Cons

Has lost the start-up culture. It's big, it's political and it's expected. It's a gigantic company and compared to overall revenues and growth the company has managed to stay as "un political" as possible.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up!
