I have been working at Google full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Brilliant minds, lots of interesting work, nobody is bad at what they do. If you find yourself not on an interesting project, it's not hard to move

Cons

There really aren't any. The commute maybe, depending on where you live? But that's goign to be a problem anywhere.

Advice to Management

Googlers are users too. Internal feedback is often a good indicator of what external feedback is going to be like.

I have been working at Google full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Work with great people, awesome salary, benefits, the place is chock full of good people. There is a very advanced internal software infrastructure for you to learn about and use, that will be more capable in many ways than any place in the world. And Google has world leader work loads - everyone says that but its true for the big g.

    Cons

Hard to deal with being average, if you were a super-achiever in your old job (most of the not-great people were weeded at interview time, as well as many other good people).

    Advice to Management

The company feels like its lacking in career advance possibilities. Advancing requires working with more highly rated people to rate your review, and there are a lot more of them in MTV. The Seattle offices almost certainly have (1) more experienced people than other offices (msft, amzn), (2) lower promotion trajectory, because its more competitive. It's common for recruiters to say, we rejected this person for Seattle, but we'll take them for mtv.

I have been working at Google as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great compensation, people are amazing, great perks, FREE EVERYTHING. Google benefits and perks are probably the best in the world. There is truly no company that can offer you everything that Google can. The people are so helpful and always willing to push you in the right direction. Management is incredibly accessible and encouraging. Overall, I LOVE GOOGLE!!!!

    Cons

Little fish in a big pond syndrome. Sometimes its easy to feel intimidated by the thousands of brilliant people working with and around you. There is so much happening that it can seem hard to get noticed or move up.

    Advice to Management

    AMAZING JOB!
