I worked at Gordon Food Service full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Pretty positive culture. They are growing. New building is nice. Some career mobility. Virtually impossible to get fired. Good work life balance.

Cons

Raises are conservative. Bit of the good old boys mentality. Management tends to hand pick who gets opportunities.

Advice to Management

Need to make hiring process more fair and transparent.

I worked at Gordon Food Service full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

At every level, GFS has excellent benefits and incentives for their employees. Profit sharing is very generous when any employee meets their personal goals. Sales people are provided with a vehicle and gas card which helps compensate for lots of driving involved in an outside sales role.

    Cons

Mentoring program for outside sales associates needs improvement. Some mentors come off similar to fraternity brothers hazing pledges who are rushing to join the fraternity. Continuity is lacking due to working with many different mentors with different teaching styles.

    Advice to Management

Make some changes to the sales associate training program

I worked at Gordon Food Service full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed interaction with fellow employees

    Cons

management is a small group of buddy's, a click. Management belittles employees , very anti-union, and claims to have Christian values but acts show differently, not Christ like.

    Advice to Management

Get more involved with "on the floor employees." Learn to help employees out when they need it. Listen to your employees. YOU need to thank them for their sacrifices not them thanking you for letting them work their.

Pay close attention to how the Brighton Campus is run.
