Pros

I think that working for a hospice organization allows you to provide excellent end of life care to families that need the support to get through a very difficult time in their lives. You get to travel to different locations to see your patients in which you will not get tired of the same scenery all the time. You are paid very well for your mileage for travel time. The pay is significantly more than working in a skilled nursing facility.

Cons

Whenever you need time off, you are given a hard time about it because it is tough to find someone to cover your patients while you are gone. Sometimes, the traveling can become too excessive.

Advice to Management

The advice that I can offer to management is to make sure that you have some qualified per diem workers available so that your regular full-time and part-time employees can take time off when needed. This way, their patients will be covered.

I have been working at Grace Hospice full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The field staff are great & caring group of people.

    Cons

There is NO respect, no integrity, no compassion, and no regard for excellence. The whole orientation process is a joke. If you ask questions during orientation you are viewed upon as an idiot. No support given to new hires, talks to staff in condescending way. There is manipulation going on within the company & no one wants to address it. If you point out issues you are dismissed.

    Advice to Management

Manipulation is wide spread among....There is a serious issue with those that are in those positions. Asking questions about processes should not be viewed as a negative thing. People ask questions rather than assume things. If someone is not performing you must tell them and put them on a PIP not just let them go. You have doctors, nurses, and other staff members who truly will not refer to Grace based on the people currently in supervising roles. Your Culture and values mean nothing unless you truly adhere to them. Complaints from your senior leadership team should be very seriously looked into. There is a serious issue that is being ignored.
