I have been working at Graham Packaging full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Decent pay for the area.clean environment,temperature controlled

Cons

Boring,stand on concrete for twelve hours,several negative employees,supervisors don't control their shift well

Advice to Management

Interact with labor and find out their desires,create eight hour shifts,get maintenance to be more helpful,shifts are too long to be stuck inside that long. Breaks outside are not enough.

    I have been working at Graham Packaging full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    The off days are great. Basically worked 2 weeks in a month and off the other 2 weeks. Unless mandatory OT kicks in. The supervisors seem to care about what the employees want but those are the only members of management who care about the employees. Decent pay

    Cons

    Lots of favortism. Everyone not treated the same. The management team (besides the supervisors) are a joke. All of them. Has the slightest idea how to run a production plant and are not qualified to do what upper management wants them to do. Tries to run the floor from the office and through email but does not come on the floor. No good HR department.

    Advice to Management

    Come in and have a meeting with the hourly employees only. With no facility managers in the meeting. You will be surprise by how much that would help the facility to run better and boost morale. We just want to be heard. This needs to happen ASAP because if it doesnt, then this facility is on the brink of distruction.

    I have been working at Graham Packaging full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Decent people at the production level, with a lot of time off. Extremely safety conscious atmosphere.

    Cons

    The plant's upper management has as little contact with production people as possible, sometimes deliberately avoiding them. As mentioned in the title line, fairness is almost totally lacking; i.e., one person in the quality dept. can pick & choose their own hrs, in effect having flex time, but no others in the quality or any other dept can do this without being punished with getting "points" or other punitive measures. This blatant favoritism is witnessed by the entire plant, causing deep resentment against those responsible.

    Advice to Management

    Get out on the floor & interact with the people who work hard to actually make your job easier.
