I worked at Grand Canyon University full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good starting salary.
    Great benefits.
School is great for family as well as yourself.
    Good values.
They do a good job of facilitating a decent college environment, even in the off-campus offices.

    Cons

There are a few shady people within the call centers who are vestiges of the old way of doing business.
The technology is far behind their competitors.
The Tempe Location is rather unimpressive, and the AC occasionally smells like it's on fire.

    Advice to Management

Get better technology and a better online location.

I worked at Grand Canyon University full-time

    Pros

Co workers are great and work hard to keep their managers off their back. The tuition discount is one of the only reasons that keep people there. You are given substantial time off and the attire is casual, although some people take that too far. The learning platform is easy to navigate and user friendly.

    Cons

Management is all about the numbers. This is a Christian University, so act like one. They are for profit when means employees are just a number and can be let go for ANY reason. Management on all levels are shady and EVERYTHING is a secret. If you are buddy buddy with your manager you will do well, if you are not your time there is limited. They don't care about their employees or students, they care about their next building project. There are some good managers but they are outweighed by all the UOP mentality managers.

    Advice to Management

Learn how do the enrollment counselor job so you know what EC's really go thru. Help and support your employees instead of writing them up. Take your weekly/daily manager meetings and use them to train yourselves so you REALLY know how to do this job instead of micromanage and look at reports all day. Listen to your EC's, they know what works and what doesn't.
