I have been working at Grant Thornton full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

The people. Most of the partners/principals are great. A lot of good opportunity if you volunteer for work/projects. I fought for & got a great flex schedule.

Cons

Salary is fair but I had to fight for each raise. Way overworked due to continual understaffing. Mgmt/partner wouldn't listen until I was burnt out & resigned. I'd go back but I'd draw more clear lines re: workload from the start.

Advice to Management

Listen to staff. Upward reviews would provide some helpful insight.

I worked at Grant Thornton full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Great Clients, and opportunity to form great relationships with clients
    - Opportunity for significant client experience
    - Exposure to commercial, Not-for-profit, SEC, and other industries

    Cons

-Overwork you, and severely underpay (have to do market adjustments every 4 years, which means your working under market for 4 years)
    - dog eat dog culture with no accountability from upper management
    - coaches don't have coachees best interests at heart and only care about their own careers
    - terrible training programs

    Advice to Management

    - Pay employees what they deserve - Market value
    - Make training's more effective
    - Revamp firm culture by hiring more employees so current employees aren't miserable.
    - Procedures need to be put in place to ensure upper management (Managers and above) take responsibility and are accountable for work, and not just blame the seniors for everything that goes wrong, and take credit for all that goes right. Same for partners.

I have been working at Grant Thornton full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great people to work with and my team tries to be proactive about a work/life balance. A lot of hands-on experience very early in your career, including meeting with clients.

    Cons

Understaffed right now so everyone is overworked. The upper management don't always pay attention/listen to what the staff communicates.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the staff. Upstream reviews would be helpful.
