I worked at Group Health full-time (More than a year)

Pros

They provide competitive pay, good benefits. Commute options include vans to and from the train, subsidized bus passes, some telecommuting.

Cons

Likely to be more layoffs. It's hard to take time off with limited resources to cover for you. Unless you're there for at least 10 years, don't count on "Forever" for job security. It's just the nature of the industry right now.

Advice to Management

Try to get more accomplished - the consensus philosophy can be paralyzing. Lean isn't always applicable to every function. Don't have useless meetings where there is no new information. It wastes time and frustrates people.

I have been working at Group Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I've gotten work experience with what I would want to do with my career. Not quite a career but helps with futher goals in the near future and with where I plan to go.

    Cons

There are a lot of lazy people which can be very frustrating when you rely on them to help get the work done. The benefits are cheap which is good for a family but it is a struggle to get things ordered or prescribed since it is a co-op (costs accrue inside the network). Understanding of medical benefits is confusing. Can be frustrating to fight for your health needs with an insurance company versus having coverage and selecting a doctor you want to see.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to outsource in order to get rid of lazy workers.

"No longer a good place to work. Incompetent management has ruined what was once a great place to work."

    Pros

Opportunities to provide good healthcare to patients.

    Cons

Incompetent management has put the company in dire financial straits resulting in the layoff of ten percent of all staff in 2013. The IT department has been especially hard hit, lead by a person who made his reputation by outsourcing IT at other companies, and has said he can't imagine working at one place for more than three years. The most senior people have been pushed out and those who remain have had to settle for pay cuts of about twenty percent.

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to be replaced.
