Disapproves of CEO

Pros

Emerging, cutting edge market
Name recognition when you tell people you work there

Cons

Terrible pay
Disorganized management
Unscrupulous business practices
Not a technologically advanced company
High pressure sales teams lead to bad deals

Advice to Management

Take a realistic look at your business model. Be honest with your successes AND your failures. Don't be afraid to admit you actually aren't doing that well in key markets. Do not create an environment where young reps make bad deals because they are so stressed to make their quota. Businesses lose, and Groupon loses because the merchant has a bad experience and creates bad press and bad word of mouth.

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

    New
    Growing
Busy workplace with exciting things going on around the company. I have met a lot of skilled people and there is a lot of smart thinking that goes with sales and marketing.

    Cons

Sometimes, I feel a bit like my department is shut off from the rest of the company. Information is sometimes hard to get about the company's performance.

    Advice to Management

I think the management is great. For such a young company and young leadership, they really have a good head on their shoulders.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

The sales staff is nice. They are educated, young, and ambitious to succeed. They have free beverages all day long.

    Cons

Inexperienced management. Most have zero management experience. They simply got promoted after 2-3 months of fresh sales experience and treat people like dirt.
Goals are set in place that no one reach. They are firing people left and right for no good reason.
Cut commissions and eliminated bonuses. Sales staff make about 80% less than they did 5 months ago. Competition is fierce and Groupon is not making changes to counter what perks competition does for merchants.
Move desks constantly and disrupts work.
    Required to work Saturdays.
No cap for time off, but make it impossible to take a day off. They make you feel guilty to take a Saturday off to go to a wedding.
Sales staff cries all the time.
Editorial is unhelpful and rude which makes the job next to impossible.
They do not care at all about merchants. They just push the merchants so far that they will never work with Groupon again.
    Noisy call center environment.

    Advice to Management

Lose them. They are not generate revenue. They simply treat their teams as if they are objects and do not matter. They are not helpful or available to help.
