I have been working at Groupon full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Laid back. Nice people. Certain departments can work from home every Wednesday. Relaxed hours.

Cons

Every time big news happens, which is oftentimes bad news these days, they blame it on "being a young company". While they certainly still are a young company, it is getting to the point where they cannot keep blaming their mistakes on that and start hiring the right people in management.

Advice to Management

Stop blaming your mistakes on being young! Hire more experienced people if you still are not getting it straight. Be more straightforward. When you are telling a whole department that you are switching them to non-exempt hourly, do not blame it on a legal issue. It is cutting costs.

I have been working at Groupon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Free coffee and soda. Awesome coworkers

    Cons

Poor managers who are abusive. Dying industry...sorry but the "earlier adopters" have become disillusioned and dropped out. Deals that generate no commission. Embarrassed to tell friends who i work for! everyone has horror story! Goals are set in place that no one can reach. Merchants do not want to hear the name Groupon. It's impossible to do sales.

We were told to post fake reviews on ratings sites so that our merchants look better. But then LivingSocial corporate/HR does the same thing.

The only thing they got going for them, is a lot of young people who dont know any better and don't mind drinking the kool aid.

    Advice to Management

Hire management who is willing to lay their own butts on the line. All the good managers have already left.

I have been working at Groupon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Officially, the paid time off is unlimited.
You can dress how you want.
    Lots of young people.

    Cons

Taking time off is a passive-agressive nightmare.
    You can't afford nice clothes.
Success is determined either by prior privilege or timing.

    Advice to Management

More middle class salaries, for starters.
