Pros

Tons of fun. I made some amazing friends while working for Guided Discoveries. I am still close with several of them. My co-workers were some of the best people I have met.

Cons

Hours are horrible and inconsistent for instructors, and some of the other positions aren't much better. Pay is very low, though room and board is included so it keeps your costs down. Management dealt with issues (even SAFETY issues) if and when they felt like it. Employees who were not upper management are tossed to the curb if they are injured or would like to have a family status other than 'single'.

    Pros

Best company ever. Ross and Kristi are the best. Craig follows suit as well. And great autonomy. Working for a common goal-great experiences for the kids.

    Cons

Moving to San Juan a challenge for those in the Claremont office and getting to it from other sites. Growing pains that are actually good pains to have.

    Advice to Management

Create a futuristic structure that meets the needs of Millenials and keep up what you do for the staff. Great company!

I worked at Guided Discoveries full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    > Inspiring work environment - One had have a physics or astronomy degree to work as an instructor during my time there. This creates a community of people who are stereotypically proactive in their critical thinking skills.

    > Good environment to determine your next step after undergraduate school before making a more concrete professional decision.

    > Promotes self discovery as an instructor as one ad to be knowledgeable and inspiring regarding science education. The lessons are geared to motivate students and allow them to grow.

    Cons

    > Compensation is associated with room and board. This varies dramatically across camp and can place one in a situation where they are getting compensated drastically different than other employees which in turn undermines this compensation theory.

    > Work relating to this industry is difficult to come by. This job is not a career and should be viewed as a good networking and inspirational resource. Greatly suggest looking for new, and inspired opportunities while there so that you can transition in less than (2) years,
