I have been working at H&M part-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

The co-workers are always awesome
The discount is pretty cool
I always like the clothes

Cons

They play favorites to the point that it RIGHT IN YOUR FACE. This a company where you have to kiss the managers butts to get anywhere!
They definitely hire/ promote the wrong people. People that do not know how to run or manage a business or its associates.
H&M doesn't practice it's own values and works its associates to the bone with NO raises or praise.
The customers are STUPID and very inconsiderate.

Advice to Management

Do a better job managing and to District- HIRE BETTER MANAGERS. Care more about your associates that work their butts off and run 5 ponies and close a whole department plus help other close their department some praise. Associates seriously lack motivation, because we are not able to grow, and our hard work always goes unnoticed.

    I have been working at H&M full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    * Accepting corporate culture
    * Fun merchandize to work with
    * It's easy to get promoted if you're good. (I got promoted twice within 2 years and made more money then most people in my position)
    * Great insurance, paid birthday off.

    Cons

    * STRESS STRESS STRESS. High Stress level at H&M
    * Constant crunch for using less hours, which results in more stress for everyone because it's impossible to get the workload done in the amount of hours your District Controller will tell you you can use
    * The bonus used to be great, but not anymore. There's 3 really high requirements that you can't really effect, and barely anyone is meeting them
    * You only get 1 weekend a month off
    * No work/life balance
    * H&M promotes people who put in their 2 weeks notice because they don't want to get hit with turnover. This results in incompetent people being promoted

    Advice to Management

    Maybe Karl-Johan Persson needs to not be so greedy and start rewarding the people who do the actual work, in the store again. An incentive is not an incentive if there's no possibility for your staff to make it.
