I worked at H&R Block part-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Classes are valuable and informative. Individual offices have great personalities. The company is invested in the employees' education and experience.

Cons

Multiple managers give the same instructions. I received six emails/phone calls per day during the hiring process from different offices "checking in" on how things were going. One of the calls was before 6am. Kansas City doesn't communicate well with district offices; either that, or the district manager here blames her mistakes on Kansas City. The company sends multiple emails to personal email addresses, rather than company addresses, even after the employee no longer works for the company. Part-time employees have to endure the same extensive company training, in addition to tax education, each year, and the training is usually for minimum wage.

Advice to Management

The hiring website is glitchy, and regional offices should communicate with employees, rather than multiple levels of management simultaneously rehashing the same issues.

I worked at H&R Block part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Generally a great work environment, until you have a problem with someone and then a blind eye is turned.

    Cons

Worked there for five years building my client base only to have a new Office Manager steal clients in my last year.

    Advice to Management

Stick up for the tax pro and not the Office Manager if there is a conflict.

    Pros

Having the ability to make your clients happy and reassure them that they are getting what they deserve in regards to tax is H&R Block's main focus

    Cons

Sometimes the process to go through the company policies is a hassle due to the constant changes that occur in the workplace.
