    I love my job because im helping others. I love to put a smile on another persons face or to make their day. The company and managers are wonderful. Me and my co workers get along very well.

    Very tiresome, hard work, on your feet all day

    I worked at HCR ManorCare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Starting pay is decent, buildings look professional and clean, when state shows up there is plenty of corporate support.

    Cons

    Benefits and PTO are horrible, high turn-over, low morale, more concerned about monthly income than resident and employee concerns, little to no raises, "Head in a bed" was the business policy, treat CNAs very poorly, will cut hours for nurses and CNAs frequently, managers are pressured from corporate to do certain things -- often at the risk of their own employees. Mangers frequently threatened with being fired if they do not abide by the goals corporate sets out for them. Unrealistic sales and satisfaction goals set by corporate office. Work/Life balance is considered a weakness and not welcomed -- the more hours you work, the more you show how good of an employee you are (lunch breaks, time off and family life are not supported here).

    Advice to Management

    We don't need 50 different bosses telling us what to do. Be more concerned about your employees that have direct patient care, they are the best indicator if you are going to perform well in the community. Treat them well and you will find that everything else will fall into place.
