I worked at HCR ManorCare full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

none that I can think of at all

Cons

huge med passes, no unit managers, constant staffing changes, shortages, hostility among staff, residents are rude and unappreciative, other Nurses are bullies. I was off orientation for one week, was shifted to all units in building, never had the same assignment, worked all three shifts, and was written up by other staff. Admissions are constsnt with no one able to do the work, because they have no staff. Ridiculous expectations, shortages of supplies and equipment, broken equipment, call bells ringing constantly, no chain of command, no continuity of care, and staff resigning daily. They set you up to fail, and lose your license. Worst job I have ever had.

Advice to Management

I worked at HCR ManorCare part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Caring colleagues, nice facility, supervisor was reasonable despite being stressed out always. Great benies for full timers.

    Cons

Low pay. Documentation still being done on CARBON PAPER!

    Advice to Management

Roll out ROX for real like other companies, this nonsense of "making sure it's perfect before we roll it out" is ridiculous. Doing paperwork on actual paper is absurd in the 21st century.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at HCR ManorCare part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good company overall. Ahead of their time and all of their competition with electronic charting.

    Cons

Local management is tyrannical and if her Supervisors knew what a wretch she were she would no longer be employed there. Benefits available, if you don't mind spending half your income on them.

    Advice to Management

Stop treating your colleagues like dirt beneath your feet. Stop yelling at employees in front of patients and other employees - stop yelling at them [period] You are a DON. You are not God. Stop telling your colleagues that they are stupid.
