I worked at HERE Technologies full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

monopoly, good for shareholders, unique product with no competitors to speak of

Cons

leadership actually lost a monopoly. Sales strategy dominates culture, a conflict of interest as sales only has a 90 outlook.

Advice to Management

move to a market leading culture

    Pros

Navteq was a great place to work. Now as Nokia Location and Commerce, I am not certain anymore.
Good company for all things location related. Potential for continued growth in a ever changing marketplace, provided they can identify with this new marketplace and provide for it. Lots of great people. Great benefits.

    Cons

Total turmoil at the moment with a high degree of uncertainty causing low moral. Nokia is certainly flexing its musle and trying to steer the company for its own self intrests. Remains to be seen if those intrests will be enough to keep NAVTEQ in a leadership position within the LBS industry.
Internal politics & a lack of career paths are obsticles for advancement.
Too slow to implement some creative & innovative ideas.
High level communciation is fine; lower level communciation is atrocious. Sharing of information between groups is nearly impossible.
Coach tickets for all international travel.
HR is too strong and not helpful.

    Advice to Management

Dont forget about what made NAVTEQ successful for 25 years and establish itself as the leader in the digital map insudtry: Quality, Customer care, Cool Products, Great People
