I have been working at HOK full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

The company has a stong structure for the project, employee.
Even in a bad economy, they try to keep the employee as much as they could.

Cons

Team shifting is hard to happen. So, if you have bad relationship with your senior, you have to move out to another company.

I have been working at HOK full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Respectable company with a long history as an industry leader.

    Cons

The "Good Old Boy System" of upper management prevails here. Be sure to be overworked and under compensated. Office politics will always have you guessing weather or not you are being phased out of your position. At HOK, you are a job title to meet the bottom line, not a individual who is accurately judged on performance. Great place for old + tired industry leaders come to get paid out through retirement.

    Advice to Management

Hire young industry leaders who have current knowledge of technology and innovation. Promote and respect those who have made it possible for your success.

I worked at HOK full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Lots of great resources available if you know where to find them.

    Cons

Micromanaging, close-minded management with poor ability to plan and direct.
Expectation that employees are available 100% of the time without getting anything in return.
Benefit plan is not great - 401k matches but only if you're there 3 years - Medical is expensive and doesn't cover simple procedures; for example blood work.
Uncomfortable atmosphere, no privacy, poor air-flow, too cold/hot.
Street parking in a city without abundant parking available.
No flexibility or opportunity to work-at-home.

    Advice to Management

Treat people with respect and the general attitude may not be quite so miserable. Actually, retire and hire respectful individuals.
