Pros

I have really had a good period of growth while working with HSS. I was able to work with hospital employees and patients on a personal level and the work could be ever changing and the days passed by quickly. It can be a very fast paced environment and also a very slow work environment. I enjoyed it because I enjoyed working in a team of officers to ensure that the policies and protocols were followed in the hospital. It really gave me an opportunity to take a step toward being a more assertive person.

Cons

The patients and staff can be unpredictable but the other security officers have your back most of the time.

Advice to Management

Back your employees up and be there for them if situations become controversial. Also some of the people that they hire should have never made it through the interview process.

    Pros

They do pay you bi-weekly and will pay for ASIS certifications. Also they trust you to be rather autonomous.

    Cons

No clear definition of what to do in multiple situations. Never sure if patients are actually on a lawful hold or not. No paid time off in the first year. Pay is rather low considering the environment that you work in and the health risks at hand. Communication is terrible for a company that is upholding the observe and report philosophy, you are more likely to observe on your own that get any info from the previous shift. Training is silly too, you receive the same training that the hospital staff receives, and are then called on by the hospital staff to handle things they are unwilling to deal with.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with your employees, all of them!
