I worked at Habitat for Humanity full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Everyone in the Austin office is funny, supportive, and dedicated, not to mention a great person
    - Building houses for families in need is so rewarding
    - All of the regular volunteers and family partners are fantastic to work with

    Cons

    - Long work hours when the schedule is full (I was forewarned about this)
    - If you take advantage of the provided housing as an AmeriCorps member, you're stuck living with the same people you work with
    - The heat!!!

    You're doing great!

I have been working at Habitat for Humanity as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Great work/life balance, this is workplace that respects your personal life and family life. Habitat being a Christian ministry, many of their operations are similar to church-like functions but they also will respect every individual's beliefs regardless of background.

    Cons

As with most very large organizations, change can be very slow. There is also very little mobility in the organization, so if you are offered an opportunity with Habitat HQ, be prepared to be in the same job for a while (5 or more years) unless if something momentous happens.
