I worked at Habitat for Humanity full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Learned a lot, no pressure to get things done, worked at my own pace. It helped that I had a construction background, and I got along well with the management. If it were possible to make a living working there I would still be there.

Cons

Construction work- was sometimes difficult. Sometimes I worked alone and they would have a lunch for the volunteers and they would forget to invite me.

Advice to Management

None - the management are a great bunch of people

I worked at Habitat for Humanity full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great Mission and Purpose. A good idea when practiced properly.

    Cons

People in charge of my affiliate simply were very under-qualified and unethical. Some people more interested in self-congratulation than in improving processes and moving forward.

    Advice to Management

Hire qualified people with knowledge and experience of the area they are in charge of. Do not promote attitude of "being wonderful and doing good works." Promote actual work ethic and concentrate on improving the actual business of being a non-profit. Do not merely give lip-service to the mission but embody it.

I have been working at Habitat for Humanity full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Christian Nonprofit that works with volunteers and families.

    Cons

Working in a small office is challenging because many different task outside of your job description often get placed on you. Often you are doing two full time positions instead of one.

    Advice to Management

Office needs to be more efficient. Hire a secretary, instead of having a person do that and marketing/fundraising.
