No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Halliburton as an intern (Less than a year)

Pros

A lot of work available for you once you are with the company. Not for slackers

Cons

Long hours and a lot of work ( I expected this and have no problem with it)
More work than life, so you really should consider this before making a decision

Advice to Management

I suppose more 'away from work' time will definitely benefit the employees.
Happy employees = More Productive Employees = Happy Customers = More Business/Profit

I worked at Halliburton as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

It's a well known, fairly stable company. It's easy to have work-life balance because Halliburton doesn't really have external clients, at least in our department. Work ends at 5pm, and the office turns into a ghost town after that. The proximity to Addison makes for easy commuting or hanging out after work. Some of my coworkers were really nice.

    Cons

Although a stable employer, Halliburton does have a few issues. First, the Carrollton office feels so ancient, in a 1970s office/industrial park. As another reviewer mentioned, this company does have a prevalent "white good ole boys" atmosphere. Halliburton was not big on diversity, at least in my department.

In our department, there was not much room for advancement. Although the pay was okay, it could be better, especially for non-tech staff. But the biggest issue was that the company offers no formal training. The management is resistant to change and new ideas. Yet this type of mindset is common in the oil and gas sector.

I worked at Halliburton full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good 401k match. 3-4% raises if you get one. You are pressured to lie about the short comings of your manager and supervisors. All of mine did not earn their posts. If you know someone then you are probably going to end out ahead of some one who is good at their job, but isn't related to someone in management.

    Cons

Its a great place to work if you are really good at kissing butt.

    Advice to Management

    You are not royalty.
