I have been working at Halliburton full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You'll gain more knowledge from their training than anywhere else. More opportunities to move around in the company

    Cons

If you can't follow policy or safety rules then it's not the place for you. It is a lot of time away from home.

    Advice to Management

The hiring process from the recruiters never emailing back and the NEO is like cattle being pushed from one field to the next. They have so much required training to get you through that your personal stuff is pushed aside like benefits, payroll, specific job details and etc. They only spend a few minutes on that and two weeks of certifications. You'll have to do the research and work to figure out the best options on benefits or call around to figure out where to be or what is next during training. The material is great but it's 50 people at a time with different positions and they don't spend much time on individual issues. It's just mass certification and training.

I worked at Halliburton full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I mainly worked on the R&D group, and had the chance to work with great and brilliant people developing software to solve very complex problems.

There was not shortage of challenges and that along with great people is one of the things that kept working at Halliburton.

Salaries and facilities/amenities were very good.

    Cons

In the last few years things have been going down hill very quickly. Teams have been losing people and the people that stays behind has to take over the work from the people that left; no back fill of positions.

No investment on professional development, and observed that only middle to upper management would benefit from training; everybody else was pointed to learn on the job and the internet. Despite the company having an internal learning system, online and face to face courses were not approved be management.

    Advice to Management

Invest on the people across the board, keep them motivated, management to be more responsible and mainly accountable for decisions made by them.
