I have been working at Handy

    Pros

Good hourly pay and flexible around any schedule.

    Cons

Nothing but headaches for each job I’ve done. Only the customer can extend your time which is NOT a good way to do it. Most don’t know what Handy is because they request through Wayfair or HomeAdvisor, so they don’t even know how to contact Handy. ALSO, the second and third jobs I had “failed” to pay me with no explanation.

We greatly appreciate the feedback. However, we’re unable to add time to a booking on the customer's behalf, since the bookings are paid hourly by the customers. If they don’t approve the extension, there’s no need for you to stay longer than scheduled. Without customer approval, we won't be able to compensate you for any extra time. If you need further questions, our dedicated team can help you, email us at prosupport@handy.com.

I have been working at Handy for less than a year

    Pros

You can make some extra side money with Handy. I got some reliable side customers thanks to this app because they were tired of dealing with Handy.

    Cons

The only way to communicate with them is email. Responses take anywhere from 1 hour to several days. They withhold payments whenever they feel like it. Most Handyman jobs they have aren't as described (listing will be under "faucets" to replace an in-wall ball valve, for example). They book services without notifying customers... I've knocked on countless doors where there customer had no idea I was there for a service call. As of present I'm still waiting for $133 in payments plus $18 in reimbursements from my last few jobs a week ago. Email support is horrible, they often tell you one thing and then don't follow through, and if you need on-the-job support, you're lucky to get a reply before you either leave or complete the job (hence the $18 in reimbursement fees). Instant payouts only work half the time. I asked them how my personal attorney could contact them, and now they won't respond to me at all. On many of these jobs, they take more than half of what you're making (if you're making $75, they're charging the customer $225, minimum.) Just look up their reviews anywhere, you won't find one higher than a 3.0 average on any rating site, and most warn to stay away.
