Pros

This is simply the best company I have ever worked for. Culture is friendly and non-corporate, your colleagues will pull their weight (mostly), and performance is world-class. Compensation is appropriate for the expectations, which are high.

Cons

There are always politics, and always changes one might look suspiciously upon. It's easy to think things are sliding at a company where so much is right, and also easy to think things are improving at a company where the status quo is utter chaos. All things being relative, then, Harris is probably like any other place that can afford the best and brightest: demanding and very hesitant to breaking what works.

Advice to Management

Provide more opportunities for internal promotion/growth. You run a very lean shop, but that sometimes forces people out when they can't grow in a more traditional corporate sense.

    Pros

Harris is a great place to work. Civilized environment, good people, amazing benefits, and a strong reputation. Almost everybody is competent and professional.

    Cons

Hours can be long sometimes, at least in terms of the on-call requirements. If you are in technology, you'll be exposed to lots of project management and change control, but not a lot of cutting edge work. They are cautious because they are in finance, so you'll get very good experience in keeping things running properly but not a lot of innovation outside of any lab work.

    Advice to Management

Technology knows what they are doing, and they do a good job. Please listen to them. You are luckier than you know to have the people you have working for you, so don't alienate them and lower standards.

    Pros

Great benefits, free food in the kitchen. Generally a calm work environment.

    Cons

Office is ugly and could use an update. Some of the divisional management is inept. Also, the annual review process is a joke.

    Advice to Management

Keep it up - things are relatively good.
