I have been working at Harris Health System full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Harris County name carries weight. Working in the hospital district can provide opportunites into other health care fields. Awards are given for years of service, job performance and employee wellness.

Cons

Everyone has forgotten what orientation was for. Not everyone will smile, or greet you when you properly greet them. Most of the time it doesn't feel like a family unit, that I was told it would be. You have no Sick Days, instead you have to use time accrued per month.

Advice to Management

It's okay to complain, you will not always be the nice one.

I worked at Harris Health System full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

As a former employee with Harris Health System, I received the greatest satisfaction in providing optimal nursing care and resources for indigent patients and their families.

    Cons

Lack of true teamwork. Everyday, all day long, there is some type of crisis (usually understaffing).

    Advice to Management

Go to the Nursing Units and observe the disorganization, ambiguous attitudes and poor "soft skills". Make some positive changes to benefit the staff as opposed to only having meeting after meeting with no implementation of ideas/suggestions.
