I worked at Harris full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay was good for the most part , Very good people in the work force, some of the best I've ever worked with. A few good managers. many locations for work with the ability to transfer

    Cons

Its definately a boys club where if you are in your in and if not forget it. Upper management is out of touch and manages from the word of middle management which is a bunch of control freaks born out of a environment created by fear and threats. They let a lot of good people walk.

    Advice to Management

your people are your best asset, take better care of them

I have been working at Harris full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Benefits overall are good; however, it depends on the division you where you work. It is not consistent across all divisions. Talented pool of people; however, the "good" ones are leaving.

    Cons

The current CEO is running the company and more importantly the people into the ground. At one time this was a family oriented and customer-focused company which cared about the employees. Now the philosophy appears to be work them to death and then recycle for new blood. New ideas are no longer welcomed. Everyday is centered around putting out fires, and getting the latest report to management that they want. No consistency. Morale is the worst I have seen in the last 10 years. Very top-heavy again.

    Advice to Management

STOP over-promising on contracts and then expect the employees to fix your mistakes. Also, when a customer wants more, you expect them to pay for it. However, management wants more and more from it's employees but does not want to pay for it (i.e. overtime, raises, incentives) or does not want to provide additional resources. The amount of management reporting required now borders on ridiculous. Just because at 3 a.m. you took 30 seconds to come up with an idea of a new report you would like to see does not mean it will take someone 30 seconds to complete the report. Use people's time efficiently, not to just satisfy your whim. Bill Brown.... ever see "Undercover Bosses"? Might be a good idea for you.
