I have been working at Harris Teeter part-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Bonus checks.
Decent hours.
Mostly fun employees.
Fair with time off.
Transfering is easy if you know the right people.
Fun place to work if working with the right people.

Cons

Working at HT is fun while in school. But after you seem to be getting no where while others jump ahead of you with half the experience. I transfered departments which has made me get more hours but.
no raise. Working on the front makes work very boring
and you seem to be a no body. Produce is better. More independent and no one breathing down your neck. Usually. Half the managers are anal and get on your last nerves. All in all plan to have a good day and a bad day all the time.

Advice to Management

Chill out. Stop kissing ass. Making your employees hate you. Stoo micro managing. Let the departments handle themselves.

    Pros

You get bi-yearly bonus checks, even while working part time
    The hours are very flexible
As long as you put in for vacation time somewhat early, you'll almost always get it
    Great fellow employees

    Cons

    Quality of management varies drastically
Constantly shifting managers to new stores
Nearly impossible to get a store transfer unless you constantly pester them

    Advice to Management

Don't use a condescending tone towards staff
Stop trying to micromanage departments as soon as you arrive at the store, the employees generally know what they're doing
The laidback managers are the ones who are treated with the greatest respect. That means that the employees will be far more willing to go above and beyond to keep you happy.
