    "Crimson Curtain"

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

I worked at Harvard University for more than 3 years

    Pros

If everything works out then Harvard is wonderful on your resume. Some researchers were able to succeed under the demands and pressures of their professors, but very few. Several other postdocs had to leave research as a career because of poor mentoring and career development.

    Cons

If something does not work out, then Harvard will haunt you for the rest of your career. In the Boston area, Harvard on your resume does not have as much weight as you would think. Everyone in Boston is from MIT or Harvard.

  1. "Great experience"

Current Employee - College Fellow in Cambridge, MA

I have been working at Harvard University full-time

    Pros

Great opportunity to gain extensive teaching experience while still having time and support to pursue research (especially during the summer and second year, when your courses are prepped)

    Cons

That it's only 2 years! You have to start thinking about next step basically right away.

  2. "Easy job, good pay, lots of time to study"

    Former Employee - Circulation Assistant

I worked at Harvard University part-time

    Pros

The on campus job pay is good. If you get the slow hours then you can do psets or other assignments

    Cons

If it gets busy, then there is no time to do anything other than organize books
