I have been working at Harvard University full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

The people you meet here are incredibly capable and driven to success. Naturally, when you put enough Type-A's together you create a very competitive environment, but this environment can also drive innovation.

Cons

The culture of competition can drive some students to feel very disillusioned with the incredible opportunity they have of attending Harvard

Advice to Management

More support for students

I have been working at Harvard University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people, work/life balance, flexible work schedules possible, always plenty to do

    Cons

Adoption of new and good ideas can take a long time; always need to be aware of what is technically and politically possible; compensation below industry norm

    Advice to Management

Listen more to the top notch people you've hired while making changes

I worked at Harvard University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are comprehensive and include a variety of items not found elsewhere. Generous tuition assistance plan, numerous health benefit options, fitness benefit, etc. 35-hour full-time workweek for staff.

    Cons

Bureaucracy is everywhere. Most staff positions fall under the CTW Union, so pay raises, work schedules, etc. are fixed and non-negotiable. Pay rate is based on 35-hour workweek, so take-home pay is less than comparable positions with 40-hour workweeks.
