I worked at Havtech full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Good spring board if you want to get started in the HVAC business.
Good cheap health insurance, 401k plan.
8-hour work days, no need to stay late on most days.
Most colleagues are nice and professional.

Cons

Work is repetitive and very boring.
There is no room for advancement opportunity.
Salary is low for a high cost area.
Not all salesmen are respectful to female employees.
Sales support employees are treated as replacable.
Vacation days are limited and have to be accumulated at the beginning of each year.
Paid Time-Off system, both vacation days and sick days are lumped into one.
Very little training, have to learn everything on the job.

Advice to Management

Provide a more structure approach to employee training.
Treat sales support staff like they are valued at the company.

    Pros

Havtech has good health benefits, a 401(k) program, and profit sharing. As a sales assistant, my particular supervisor is caring and understanding, and concerned with my well-being as not only a professional, but a person.

Soda is supplied without charge, and the occasional pizza is brought in.

    Cons

No one is individually managed. No opportunity is available for advancement, and the pay is below average. Sexual discrimination is rampant, as women with the same qualifications are paid less, and required to do more. There is not a level playing field. Rules are changed without notice, and bent or broken for some, but not others. Employee morale is at an all-time low, and there are no incentives for employees to produce beyond a sub-par level. Employees feel replaceable, and not valued at all. Training programs are non-existent. New employees are set off to fend for themselves, looking to other peers (as opposed to management) for assistance.

    Advice to Management

Manage people as individuals. One person's mistakes are paid for by all, and that is not how you run a successful company. Listen to the problems of the employees, may they be personal or professional, as these things all affect one's performance at work. Give incentives for the productive employees to work hard. Knowing there is light at the end of the tunnel provides for a happier work environment.
