I have been working at Hawaiian Telcom full-time

    Pros

Nice people and goos location on Bishop St. Coming out of bankruptcy, HT is grateful to find workers in their 20s and 30s , who are tech savy and able to grow into a position.

    Cons

Older generation requires patience to work with. Management is not technologically advanced, they play favorites and will not promote unless you serve 10+ years. Poor vision in management, too focused on the old ways of doing things and maintaining the status quo. No investment in employees as a resource.

    Advice to Management

Offer more money/ promotions to retain talented workers. Get to know younger generation and help them to feel appreciated. Fire or transfer jaded employees to nonessential areas. Seniority should not be dominate form of compensation increase.

I worked at Hawaiian Telcom for less than a year

    Pros

Good and reliable team of people to work with.

    Cons

They used old technology. If you're looking to develop cutting edge tech, look elsewhere.
