Pros

Great training and a fantastic opportunity for those straight out of University to develop their knowledge of the Recruitment industry.

Cons

Those managing are appointed on the basis of being good recruiters, rather than good managers. Salaries are not the greatest at Hays, and the commission structure is poor- "Advise your clients they need to be competitive in this market"!!!

£16.5k basic for Associates
£22k basic for Recruitment Consultants
£24k basic for Senior Consultants

More leavers in 13/14 than any previous years. There will always be a higher turnover of staff in the recruitment industry, but Hays are losing quality staff and need to work on retaining them.

Advice to Management

To be a good manager you need to be adaptable as each employee will have a different learning style.

I have been working at Hays full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

team driven, some management support, non management staff is very good and supportive.

    Cons

Old technology, doesn't match up against competitors
not much scope for progression and increase in salary for non fee earners
management focused on fees rather than development of individuals who can bring in new ideas

    Advice to Management

focus on new ideas and technology
fee earners are important but non-fees earners do the background work which should be recognized.
senior management wants to hit their targets even if they have to step over others.
favouritism is all over the business.
