Disapproves of CEO

Pros

Healthline received several rounds of venture capital and employees can skate by without doing any real work because the exec team is clueless.

Cons

Exec team has zero focus on any real business objectives. There is no business model other than CPM arbitrage. Average age of the exec team is over 50, and no one above the manager level has any knowledge of the internet.

Advice to Management

Fire yourselves and save the board some much needed capital. Hire replacements that actually understand the internet. Stop convincing yourselves that the company will make it because the venture capital is almost gone.

    Pros

Great engineers and good people in general. Liked their mission and ideals

    Cons

Middle management, CEO pushes his war on sugar to employees . Unwillingness to upgrade technologies to stay up to date with industry standards in technology and equipment.

    Advice to Management

Technology in the healthcare industry has always been a bit behind the times but HL was reluctant to even embrace the opportunity when it arose. 7+ year old Dell desktops aren't the best work stations for development and was a major gripe throughout the engineering dept. Their 'architect' seems more like a mid level web developer over a software engineer and would be surprised if he knew anything more than what he's been working on for the last 5+ years at HL. Seems like it was his first job and he hasn't grown at all since.
