Neutral Outlook
No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Hearsay Systems full-time (More than a year)

Pros

- Non exec employees are all very nice
- Smart people
- Fun atmosphere
- Free food
- Good location

Cons

- Stanford elitism mentality exists here - coming from the top down (founders both Stanford alums). Didn't go to Stanford? You're 2nd class
- Not much transparency from upper management to rest of company
- Bitter employees do exist here - you'll come across many whispering in conference rooms spreading general negativity
- They over promise and under deliver when it comes to your career trajectory
- C-execs have favorites - don't expect to move up unless you're one of them

Glad that you're enjoying at least some parts of the company!

As for Stanford elitism, Clara & I did go to Stanford--but none of the rest of the executive team did, and as far as I know only 1 of... More

    Approves of CEO

I have been working at Hearsay Systems full-time

    Pros

Good benefits, CEO with huge visibility, solid vision, you can make it by work 4-5 hours tops here (if that is your thing)

    Cons

Poor rotten product it is more of a vision than a real thing
Executives are blind to the mood of the company try to address it but fail to even speak to employees
Only reason they are afloat is because of CEO
Not all things are financial but CFO now makes most major decisions so this is lost in the weeds

    Advice to Management

    Just get bought already

I have been working at Hearsay Systems full-time

    Pros

Good benefits, free lunch, salary, some smart people, you can work 4-5 hours a day here (if that is your thing)

    Cons

The leadership team is very disoriented. They are constantly trying solve for the growing culture and motivation problem, but do not take the time to talk or share with the employees. They are constantly "baiting": "watch this next big thing come" OR "we have some great deals coming". This is a company with a huge ego, even though they are not really doing anything amazing or of value. Customers are duped by the vision and the CEOs visibility (board of starbucks).

    Advice to Management

Get some good logos, solidify the story, and get bought by another company. Stop sugar coating things, but don't be proud of being direct (it is an elementary function of communication). Remember you are not revolutionizing anything, you are building something and trying to show value. But you are no where near something unique.
