I have been working at Hearst full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Nice people, good benefits, decent salary, good job security in most positions, lots of opportunities to transfer within the company.

Cons

Not much of a work/life balance, salaries are low when compared elsewhere, very old-fashioned, no work from home opportunities, old equipment and software programs.

I have been working at Hearst as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great mentoring program and stimulating work environment. Higher ups are very approachable.

    Cons

Internships are unpaid. It's hard to survive in NYC without being paid at least a small stipend.

    Advice to Management

Pay your interns minimum wage. It's not much, but it goes a long way for students in New York City.

I worked at Hearst as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

The Management is very supportive and although it varied from department to department, they are generally very receptive to employee feedback. Working in Hearst Tower is one of the greatest office buildings anyone could ask to be in , and the fast paced company moves with the speed and decisiveness of a much smaller corporation. The people working their are both young and bright and are given great reign to make the best of their jobs and the company as a whole. Very big on promoting from within and almost all employes seems very happy there.

    Cons

Some of the fashion magazines can be a bit "Devil Wears Prada"
