I have been working at Heartland Payment Systems full-time

Pros

M-F, no weekends when not traveling. Good feeling to solve and help customer solve their problems. Free drinks & snacks.

Cons

12+ hour days when travel required. Low daily meal allowance. Bad Medical insurance and other benefits all with high premiums. Upper mgmt is clueless and only care about their six figure salary and bonus.

Advice to Management

Hire people who car about your customers and employees

    I have been working at Heartland Payment Systems full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    If you can keep your head down, your mouth shut and never disagree with management you have a chance to go far.

    Cons

    Bloated and bureaucratic organization.
    Impossible to accomplish anything new and innovative.
    Descisions at mid\upper management levels are made at glacial speed if ever.
    No transparency or accountability.
    People will steal others ideas, and work then claim it as their own.
    Invasive security procedures, every document, email, and keystroke is recorded scanned.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to the people that have domain knowledge not the people with Director titles.
    Putting lots of the wrong people on a project will not ensure its success.
    Find people that think like an entreprenuer not bureaucrats.

    Opinions are valued from the bottom-up. There is great growth opportunity and management is supportive in any additional training opportunities you'd like to take advantage of. Core values of integrity and transparency truly resonate throughout the company.

    Cons

    It is a fast growing company so it endures some of the standard growing pains.
