Pros

Competitve salary. Good benefits (until NYC got involved) lots of nice people to work with. Professional white collar environment.

Cons

Senior management. Promotions are based on cronyism rather than merit. Once you become a VP they will never get rid of you. Too many VP's that do not produce drag down profits. Middle management is generally abused in order to get the work done rather than have VP's pull their weight. Sr management does nothing to change that culture as they are more worried about getting sued and protecting their own high paying jobs.

Advice to Management

Fire the do-nothing VP's, cut your own salaries. Cannot justify a company going from a billion to 200 million in revenues and keeping SR management salaries the same and jettisoning the people that actually produce the work.

    Pros

    - Relaxed atmosphere vs. some other firms
    - Great Work/Life flexibility
    - Plenty of recognition from management when doing great work
    - Higher job security even though the industry has had it's ups and downs

    Cons

    - Not much room for growth if you don't want to focus on engineering expertise over your career
    - Not much support for non-billable activities (professional development), the company does not have "deep pockets" for supporting a lot of activities

    Advice to Management

Need to better enable career growth for employees. It can be difficult to see any path "up the ladder" other than being a subject matter expert.

    Pros

Heery is an extremely flexible workplace with competitive benefits. Telecommuting is allowed in many positions and work hours are flexible. The office has a relaxed work environment.

    Cons

Workloads are highly unbalanced. There are several employees who are extremely overloaded while others seem to have lots of free time. It is tough on morale for those who have too much to do with not enough time to complete the tasks in a realistic timeframe. Also, training is lacking which makes any type of transition lengthy and bumpy.

    Advice to Management

Communications between the corporate headquarters and the regional offices needs to be vastly improved. There is very little training and/or information sent out to employees about new processes and system changes put into effect. This leads to a lot of confusion. Workloads need to be assessed and rebalanced.
